Not until I came to the United States did I start knowing the power of connections and personal network. When I was in my hometown, there at large has a population of 230 thousand people, it is a huge number though, but compared to the U.S. population, it is just a tiny figure. Therefore, I didn’t literally realize the benefit and importance of connections in one’s life till I create a LinkedIn account recently.

I believe the social connection can help people when diving in the business world and some even take this advantage as their business strategy. Actually, it is the core value of human resources department, isn’t it? Keep collecting acquaintances and building connections may be a strong ability to forge an invincible social network. We may feel unnecessary to manage a consequential social network in our daily life. What we used to do is just keep those who we cherished within a close-knit community.

LinkedIn is the first social media I feel deeply about the importance of the social networking, for the connections between people and the hierarchy of the system. People cannot contact people who are too far from their personal social network. Under this circumstances, people starting to connect the people they even don’t know in order to set up a more comprehensive personal web to reach their goal while using LinkedIn, for instance, finding a job or expanding the relationship.

What do people think of using LinkedIn nowadays? To become Connectors or Maven, having a large network of LinkedIn sounds inevitable. So… maybe I should put more effort into maintaining my LinkedIn profile.
