My first year leaving hometown and celebrating the lunar year in the foreign country.  Although I am getting used to the loneliness and solitude in this town, still feeling miserable when the pictures of celebrating the lunar year in Taiwan posted by my friends popped up on my Facebook page.

Has anyone thought about how does the algorithm of the Facebook News Feeds may trigger people’s feelings differently? While browsing Facebook, if a person feel depressed but they still keep seeing those negative posts, will it increases people’s negative action or further causes some irreversible regrets?

It is not hard to analyze those data to find out which post may be more positive to the users; however, should the company intervene with the posts and filter those posts that may intrigue users’ adverse attitude? It may come to an ethical issue to the companies.

I am wondering there are a lot of things may be for the good of society, however, how can we clearly draw a line between things? For instance, in this case, to prevent people from being depressed or to get involved with people’s right of publishing the post is a double-edged sword. Depends on how you view the problems and in which way would you like to fix the problems.

Let’s think about this and feel free to give me some feedback below.

Make it simpler.
This is the thing I always want to put into practice but never live well with.
